Historical Background

The Muassasat Nasrul Ilm Wa Da’awat Foundation (MNIDF) traces its origins to the African American Islamic Institude (AAII),founded by Imam Hassan Cisse (RTA) in 1988 in the United States of America. The mission, widely recognized as Muassasat Nasrul Ilm in africa, become a pivotal force in spreading islam in west. Through Imam Hassan's efforts, many Americans embraced islam, and under his guidance, Qur'an was recorded- a remarkable achievement (Allahu Akbar!).

MNIDF’s presence in Nigeria dates back to the lates 1980s, particularly in the South-West geopolitical Zone and oter parts of the country. The organization steadily grew, establishing structured executive leadership at National, State, and Branches levels, ensuring widespread reach and impact.

A milestone in the foundation's journey was the 2004 Conference at the Federal Palace Hotel, where Imam Hassan Cisse (RTA) formally introduced the name " Nasrul Ilm ", affirming its legacy. In his speech, he referenced a letter from his grandfather, Sheikh Ibrahim Niass (RTA) , Who had originally founded the mission in 1940 and entrusted its leadership to Imam Hassan. The Sheikh's vision called on Muslims From Africa to India and beyondto contribute to the mission, urging males to danate two dirhamsand females one dirham as a means of financial sustainability and collective success.

Addressing the economics challenges faced by Muassasah and its members in Nigeria,Imam Hassan (RTA) provided a profound message of self-reliance and collective effort. He emphasized that rather than lamenting financial constraints, Muslims should unite, contribute what they can, and build a strong foundation through collective action. He reminded his followers that Allah grants success to those who strive and that their work was for His sake alone. His words remain an enduring inspiration:

" Be for Allah and be together, and Allah will be for you. "

MNIDF’s was formally incorporated in Nigeria in April 2019 under the leadership of Sheikh Usman Adebayo Giwa (RTA) to further its mission of knowledge dissemination, humanitarian service, and community development.
